ue-requirements

The end use equipment requirements are relatively simple.

Long term the CAHN system must support all devices which would typically attach to the target network, wiht appropriate software update.

For the purposes of the development cycle we can distil the following elements

UE-Rec-001 Developer support

The EU device must support developer mode, SDKs and the capability to add software updates to the system

UE-Rec-002 Networking support

The EU device must support the target networks. This is likely to be through attached devices, through SPI, I2C or USB interfaces.

Essenital networking capabilites are

  • WIFI module (likely to be built in)
  • 5G module
  • LoRaWAN module
  • Satellite - is likely to be bridged through WIFI, rather than having its own interfaces

UE-Rec-003 Secure element

The UE device must support a secure element or TPM in order to demonstrate deep security capability

UE-Rec-004 User interface

The UE device must support a basic user interface (or API) to demonstrate user interactions. HTML via WIFI should be sufficient

UE-Rec-005 Power

The UE device must power supply: ideally both plugged in and battery

Here are some additional user equipment requirements using the provided form as an example:

UE-Rec-006 Storage

The UE device must support sufficient storage capabilities to handle the intended data load. This includes support for:

  • Internal storage with a minimum capacity of 32GB.
  • Expandable storage options such as SD cards up to 128GB.
  • High-speed data transfer capabilities.

UE-Rec-007 Sensor Integration

The UE device must support integration with a variety of sensors to monitor environmental conditions and system performance. This includes:

  • Temperature sensors.
  • Humidity sensors.
  • Accelerometers.
  • Gyroscopes.

UE-Rec-008 Operating System Compatibility

The UE device must be compatible with major operating systems to ensure broad usability. Supported operating systems include:

  • Windows 10 and above.
  • Linux distributions.
  • Android.
  • iOS.

UE-Rec-009 Connectivity and Communication

The UE device must support various connectivity and communication protocols to ensure seamless integration and communication. Required protocols include:

  • Bluetooth 5.0.
  • NFC (Near Field Communication).
  • Ethernet.
  • Zigbee.

UE-Rec-010 Data Security and Encryption

The UE device must support robust data security and encryption methods to protect sensitive information. This includes:

  • AES-256 encryption.
  • Secure boot and firmware validation.
  • Support for VPN connections.
  • Regular security patches and updates.

UE-Rec-011 Audio and Video Capabilities

The UE device must support basic audio and video capabilities for communication and media playback. This includes:

  • Built-in microphone and speaker.
  • Support for video playback in HD resolution.
  • Audio output through 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth.

UE-Rec-012 Physical Durability

The UE device must be physically durable to withstand harsh environments and usage conditions. This includes:

  • Water resistance (IP67 or higher).
  • Dust resistance.
  • Shock and vibration resistance.
  • Operating temperature range from -20°C to 60°C.

UE-Rec-013 Software Update Mechanism

The UE device must support an efficient and reliable software update mechanism. This includes:

  • Over-the-air (OTA) updates.
  • Manual update via USB or SD card.
  • Support for rollback in case of update failure.

UE-Rec-014 Localization and Language Support

The UE device must support multiple languages and localization features to cater to a global audience. This includes:

  • Multilingual user interface.
  • Support for region-specific settings (date, time, currency).
  • Localized customer support and documentation.

UE-Rec-015 Compliance and Certification

The UE device must comply with relevant industry standards and certifications to ensure quality and interoperability. This includes:

  • CE marking for European markets.
  • FCC certification for the US.
  • RoHS compliance.
  • ISO/IEC 27001 for information security management.

Additional requirements to support CHERI capability

UE-Rec-CHERI-001 ISA

The UE device must CHERI enabled instruction set. Likely to be enhanced RISC-V

UE-Rec-CHERI-002 OS

The UE device must CHERI enabled operating system. Likely to be Free RTOS
